A New Hope

Austin’s popular graffiti park, the Hope Outdoor Gallery, closed yesterday and while a new location is set to replace it, this park has captured the imaginations of both locals and tourists’ alike since it opened spontaneously in 2011. It quickly became one of Austin’s top tourist attractions.

I’m thankful I was able to visit this park twice this past year. Most recently, in November, when my cousin came to visit Austin. I don’t know whether the new hope will match the unique qualities of the Baylor St. location and there will be a void along South Lamar with the closing of this space that may never be filled, however, there is still plenty of art to enjoy all over Austin. A fact I appreciate every day since we moved here.

Here are some photos from my visit this past November.
