I’ve been here for nearly two years and I’ve been wanting to find a place where I can enjoy a classic Banh Mi sandwich.
Unbeknownst to me, there was a converted shipping container not too far from where I get off the metrorail during my trips to East Austin at Plaza Satillo that serves up some of Austin’s best Vietnamese Street Food-including Banh Mis! It’s actually located right next to the rails but I don’t notice it because I always sit on the side opposite of it.
This sandwich oasis, of course, is Saigon Le Vendeur!
I didn’t waste any time. I knew what I wanted and I got what I wanted to get. The OG Banh Mi sammich- served on toasted bread and topped with pickled carrots and daikon, cucumbers, cilantro, jalapeno and home made Vietnamese mayonaise.
Wifey paired her banh mi with delicious iced jasmine tea.
So, if you’re like me and new to the area or have yet to enjoy a banh mi sammich and other vietnamese street food, get on over to Saigon Le Vendeur on 2404 East 7th Street, Austin, TX
